Students Commit to Reading Over the Summer

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Parents and students are committing to reading during summer break.

The ceremony at the Martha Mitchell Community Center celebrated Buffalo's family literacy group, Read to Succeed.

Children and their parents attended the program each Saturday for six weeks this summer.

Parents learned tips and strategies to use at home to keep their children engaged in reading.

Read to Succeed aims to improve language and literacy skills.

The group says nearly four out of every ten children in Buffalo do not have the skills necessary to begin school successfully.
