The grant supports operations in 2012, and follows previous grants from the foundation through a collaboration between Oishei, the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo and the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation.

There's a llama theme at area schools and businesses this week. Millions of people will read the book Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney on Thursday, October 6, 2011. That's because it is Jumpstart's "Read for the Record" day.

If it truly takes a village to raise a child, then Read to Succeed Buffalo is more than doing its part.
This summer, Read to Succeed community outreach coordinator Deborah Porter has initiated the Family Literacy Program, which encourages children to actively engage in reading while incorporating their parents into the process by providing workshops that assist them in building a culture of literacy at home.

Read Across America! - Principal Molly Halady of Saint Benedict School in Amherst brought the Cat in the Hat to school March 2 in celebration of Reading and the Birthday of Dr. Seuss. The National Education Association's Read Across America is a nationwide celebration of reading.
