Back in August, Fisher-Price employees spent the day at the Buffalo Science Museum with children from Read to Succeed Buffalo's CARE Child Care as part of the United Way's annual Day of Caring.

Fisher-Price volunteers provided guidance and one-on-one support for the 80 toddlers and preschoolers from local licensed child care homes.  The Buffalo Science Museum provided a day of fun filled interactive learning activities. United Way of Buffalo & Erie County provided buses for all the volunteers and children as well as admission into the Science Museum. Without all the support from these wonderful partners during Day of Caring many of these children would never have an opportunity to visit this jewel in our Buffalo Community.

As an additional holiday surprise, Fisher-Price donated age appropriate toys for distribution among the licensed child care sites participating in Read to Succeed Buffalo's literacy intervention/quality improvement program - CARE Child Care.  The toys are designed to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of children, serving as developmental tools paired with play and whimsy. The toy donation aligns perfectly with the core purpose of Fisher-Price - to enrich the lives of young families.  Headquartered in East Aurora for more than 84 years, the early childhood development company enjoys giving back to the community in which its employees work, play and raise their families.

As a resource to parents, Fisher-Price has also established a website that suggests both toys and activities that are age-appropriate and support child development.  To visit this page, look under the Parent Resources tab at www.readtosucceedbuffalo.org.

Thanks again to all our partners in the 2014 Day of Caring!
