Each winter, nearly 400 homes participate in Stony Brook Legendary Lights in the Stony Brook/Quail Run development, Lancaster.

Stony Brook Legendary Lights is a neighborhood wide holiday light display that shines nightly from Thanksgiving through January 1. Each evening, visitors drive or walk through the Stony Brook Legendary Lights to enjoy the extraordinary light displays.  In return Stony Brook Legendary Lights volunteers collect donations, 100% of which are invested into a local children’s charity.  This year, residents of the Stony Brook neighborhood chose Read to Succeed from a pool of five not-for-profit organizations competing for the honor.

In addition to the funds raised during the holiday light show, the neighborhood also collects cans and bottles throughout the year with all deposits going to Read to Succeed. Please consider bringing your empty, recyclable cans and bottles to 7 Kelly Ann Drive, Lancaster, NY 14086.

“We are honored to have been selected as this year’s beneficiary of Stony Brook Legendary Lights events,” stated Read to Succeed Executive Director Anne Ryan. “The selflessness of the Stony Brook/Quail Run residents is remarkable. Every dollar they raise from all their hard work will be invested in the literacy coaching, quality improvement, literacy tutor mentoring, and book distribution programs of Read to Succeed.” 

Read to Succeed works to ensure that all children can have access to high quality, literacy rich interactions and environments regardless of economic factors.  Read to Succeed also provides evidence-based High Impact Tutoring in Buffalo and Niagara Falls and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Book distribution to nearly 7500 infants, toddlers and preschoolers throughout Erie County - 600 in the 14086 ZIP code of Lancaster!

All donations collected from neighbors, local businesses, and visitors will be presented at the end of the year to Read to Succeed.

Venmo donations can be sent to @StonyBrookLights. Cash or check donations made out to “Stony Brook Legendary Lights” will be accepted at all neighborhood donation drop box locations and during the neighborhood Memorial Day neighborhood garage sale May 22nd & 23rd.
